If you love your mom, you’ll want to listen to ‘Bye Mom,’ a heartbreaking country song from Chris Janson. 

Chris initially wrote ‘Bye Mom’ with his close friend and fellow songwriter Brandon Kinney who was processing the loss of his own mother. Chris watched what Brandon was going through as he faced one of life’s most challenging moments when he said goodbye to his mama. 

It’s not easy to lose a parent no matter how old you are. Even when we’re grown up and in our 30s, 40s, or 50s. We want our parents to be just a phone call away–especially mom. She knows how to make everything feel okay. Thank God we can rest in the knowledge that it’s only goodbye for a little while until we are reunited in heaven. 

In this tender music video, ‘Bye Mom’ follows the story of a mother and child over the different milestones and stages of life. Especially the moment when the mother passes away, leaving the child to mourn at the grave. The video shows how we say ‘Bye mom’ for the first time at the bus stop, when we learn to drive, and when we graduate high school and move away. 

You might want to grab a tissue or two. The lyrics and the video are an incredible reminder of how much mothers mean to us. 

‘Bye Mom’ is also a powerful reminder of the unconditional love we’re given the moment we are placed in our mother’s arms and how that love stays with us over our lifetimes. It’s one of God’s greatest gifts–to experience a mother’s love. I can’t think how incredibly blessed we are to have a mother. May this song remind you of your mother’s love. A team of talented musicians came together and played an iconic hymn in a city mentioned several times throughout God’s Word.

Most hymns are cherished and beloved pieces that help to impart a powerful, truth-filled message. “Amazing Grace,” “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” and “Victory in Jesus” are just a few of the beautiful hymns that have been performed in churches for decades.

In a video posted to YouTube, Joshua Aaron and Aaron Shust sing “How Great Thou Art” at the Garden Tomb, Jerusalem. The performance, simply put, is stunning! All musicians who take part in the performance are outstanding, making for a touching and dazzling rendition.

The performance seen in the video required a heavy investment of time and resources. It took more than two years to put together, according to the video’s description. Included in that timeframe was the time needed to rehearse, to plan and prepare for their performance in the ancient biblical city. 

In addition to everything that went into putting on the public performance of “How Great Thou Art,” the description also indicates that the musicians faced difficulties while playing. 

“Not even threats of terrorism just a few hundred meters away at the Damascus Gate” could stop them from playing. Instead, the musicians in the video “felt supernaturally protected that night knowing we were safely held in the hands of the Almighty.”

The performance is terrific, but the backstory to the video is powerful! Praise God for his faithfulness, love and protection!

Jesus Christ made the ultimate sacrifice, willingly giving Himself to die on the cross for a world full of sinners. He took our place and fulfilled a debt that we can never and will never be able to repay. 

In the song “Awe of You,” the group CAIN sings about Christ and His beautiful, unceasing love and unmatched power and grace. As the title and the song's lyrics indicate, the musicians are simply in awe of Him.

From the beginning, the group states that Jesus Christ is much different from any earthly king or ruling authority. In the tune's opening verse, the lyrics inform listeners Christ is a king who issues judgments with mercy. He also cares for the lost and looks upon the sinner with “a heart of forgiveness.”

Praise God!

The song’s second verse adds that Christ can take anything and make it exponentially better. Christ, through His love, mercy and grace, does take seemingly hopeless situations and brings about something truly stunning and beautiful. 

As that verse adds, Jesus Christ really is a “giver,” a “treasure” and a “glory too great to behold.” We have done nothing to deserve His gift of love and mercy. Yet, He gives freely to anyone who humbles themselves and approaches His throne with a heart of forgiveness. 

Christ, as the musicians reiterate throughout the song, is awe-inspiring.

This song from the group CAIN is an excellent opportunity to reflect and think about Christ’s abundant love for humanity, of which we are all wholly and completely undeserving. 

Ephesians 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.”

In one beautifully written song, a supremely talented group of vocalists sing and request that God’s blessing and protection be upon others.

Life can bring about devastating circumstances. No one can predict what will happen from one minute to the next. Navigating this world alone and without God’s protection and guidance is a frightening scenario. 

In the song “An Irish Blessing” by Celtic Thunder, the guys hope and wish that listeners encounter nothing but the Lord’s blessings in life. They also ask that listeners be kept safe in the “gentle loving arms of God.”

However, as evidenced by the requests for God’s love and protection, the songwriter understands that life is and will be made up of periods of pain, sorrow, joy and happiness. So, the songwriter incorporates very popular passages and ideas from the book of Ecclesiastes. 

In the song’s second verse, the lyrics mention that there is a “time for meeting” and a “time to say goodbye.” That same verse also reminds us that in every period, God is always close and ultimately, He is the One guiding our path in life.

In a later verse, the songwriter acknowledges a hard, but difficult fact of life. Not everything we experience on this earth will be pleasant. Yes, there will be “a time for laughter.” There will be fun and joyous occasions, with smiles all around. But there will also be a “time for tears and pain.”

Nevertheless, whatever period of life we may be in, no matter what we may be undergoing, the songwriter once again reiterates that God is still working, and He is near. He has not forgotten and if we keep the faith and cling close to Him, He is guiding the way.

Praise God for his faithfulness throughout life’s many challenges and storms!

One talented group of Christian musicians sang a track about having complete and total faith in Jesus Christ.

Faith and trust are essential components needed to follow Jesus Christ. The Lord will place a calling on hearts at times and only give a direction, not the end result. However, starting out on the path, when what lies ahead is unknown, following through will require a fair amount of faith. 

In their song “Captain,” Hillsong UNITED sings about giving Christ complete and total control of their life. Whatever He wants for their life is what they are going to do. They are going with His direction and guidance for their life. 

Jesus Christ is their captain!

The first verse beautifully tells of their devotion and reliance upon Christ. The musicians sing that they are committed to following Him even when there's uncertainty about what’s next, even when it means going “straight into the dark.”

The song’s chorus continues to detail their complete faith, trust in and commitment to Christ. It adds that God’s Word will basically become a “lamp to my feet and a light unto my path.” The Bible will be their blueprint for their lives.

“Your Word
Will align my voyage
And remind me where I’ve been
And where I am going”

In the second verse, the singers point out that during the “fear and fog” of life, Christ will act as a compass. During those times, His guidance will put the ship back on the correct path. He will be the steady and ever-present captain ready to right the ship.

Life will inevitably throw hurts, struggles and heartaches in our direction. But Christ, our captain, has promised He will never leave or forsake us. The captain will never abandon the vessel. 

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.”
