Justin Martyr Cold Streets feat. Thre

"Cold Streets" is a song that explores the reality of life in the inner city on the Southside of Chicago. In 2014 Justin began doing ministry in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago working alongside and eventually on staff with Englewood Family Outreach a Christian non-profit ministry in that neighborhood. While there Justin saw a lot of pain, death, trauma, and hopelessness as he worked with three sets of one historic Chicago gang.

This Song presents three different perspectives of street life. Justin’s verse is first and comes from the perspective of someone not from the streets who has a heart to reach men and women in that life. The second verse features a lyrical heavyweight and brother in the faith Thre; and details his former life in a gang on Chicago's south side and how Jesus saved him out of that. Finally, the last voice on the track is a young man still in a gang in Chicago who is giving his perspective on life and what it is like to be born and raised in that situation.

Cold Streets was Produced by Justin Martyr and is available for free download on his website on justinmartyr305.com/music and on YouTube. The cover art was designed by Andrew Williams. Justin's goal with this song is to present various perspectives of the streets in order to challenge those outside of that life to care and be willing to have compassion and do some work in their closest inner city.

Another goal is to raise awareness of what is going on and to let the streets know that the people of God have a heart to reach them and there is hope for a changed life through the Gospel of Jesus Christ! The streets need to know that they can change for the better. THRE and many others are living proof that God can save you and deliver you out of gang life and make you one of his soldiers that now can bring others to salvation!

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things have passed away; behold, all things are new (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Father-Son Duet To Frank Sinatra's “Me And My Shadow”

Check out this A-dorable father-son duet as they sing along to Frank Sinatra’s “Me and My Shadow!” It’s a modern-day dad and his boy having a great time crooning to the 1962 classic sung by Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr.!

The cute twosome is from Kent, England, hence the right-hand driver’s seat. While enjoying a lovely drive, Matthew Clayton and his 6-year-old son Archie break into a song, as captured by Matt’s dash-cam.

Father and son have similar coloring and eyes, but their smiles are quite different—Archie’s is missing a few chompers in front! It is apparent that this is not their first attempt at this song. In fact, Archie is a big fan of Mr. Sinatra. “I really like Frank Sinatra. There are no other singers I like as much.”

Observe at 25 seconds when Matt takes notice of his son, who has just delivered a few words with extra gusto. He is tickled by his precious son, and so are we! The two sing most of the song together, but there are a few times when they take different parts.

If it seems Matt is more than your average karaoke singer, he is. A salesman by trade, he also sings in a swing band called Our Way and is affiliated with the Dover Operatic and Dramatic Society. It’s clear that Archie is similarly talented. He may not have his dad's big voice, but he belts out the words and adds pizzazz and styling just as his idol always did. He nails it on “sky” and “surprise” at about 1:30, and does it again at 2:00 on “roar” and “more.” This young man is killing it!

As they finish, Archie carrying out the last note for a good, long time, Dad asked for a high-five from his son. Archie has to empty his fisted paw before he can offer his hand, but it is a joyful moment for the two of them, as well as all of us tuning in!

There are probably some lines in the song that Archie does not understand. In particular, he may not comprehend “We're closer than Bobby is to J.F.K.” However, he does understand that he is loved by an awesome dad. What more does a kid need to know!

“And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4

'Maranatha' Acoustic Performance From Passion Music

Check out this beautiful acoustic performance from Passion Music of the new worship song ‘Maranatha.’

“This is not a performance and I’m not checking boxes, I’m here to worship
I’m here to worship You, so dust off the cobwebs and clear out my conscience
Cause I’m here to worship, I’m here to worship You, and nothing else
I’m here to worship You, and nothing else, I’m here to worship You
There’s no one else, I’m here to worship You, that’s all I wanna do”

What an incredible worship song that sounds so wonderful with the piano, drums, guitar, and vocals all making music together.

After the worship performance, some of the creators of the song, Sean and Jacob, were interviewed about ‘Maranatha’ and how special of a word it is.

“I don’t hear it a lot. It’s only used in scripture a few times. And it’s been thought to, in the early church, been a bit of like a mantra. Kind of like ‘Shalom,’” shared Sean. “If you are in the mountain or in the valley, if you are going through something tragic or something beautiful, you can say ‘Maranatha.’ It just means, ‘Come Lord’ or ‘Our Lord is coming.’ This hopeful belief that we can hang onto no matter what, what a cool thing.”

Then Jacob went on to express how he’s been wanting to write a song that uses the word ‘Maranatha’ in it.

“There’s language that we reserve really only for the Lord. That bridge has a lot of it in there,” Jacob said. “I’ve always kind of felt that ‘Maranatha’ is a beautiful thing to say to the Lord.”

Just like the words ‘Hosana’ and ‘Hallelujah,’ the word ‘Maranatha’ is such a special word to use when we are singing out praises to the Lord, and Passion did a wonderful job creating a worship song that does just that!

Are You Washed in the Blood - Tenor and Bass Arrangement

1.
Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Refrain:
Are you washed (Are you washed)
in the blood, (in the blood,)
In the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless?
Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

2.
Are you walking daily by the Savior's side?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Do you rest each moment in the crucified?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

3.
When the Bridegroom cometh will your robes be white?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Will your soul be ready for the mansions bright,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb?

4.
Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb;
Theres's a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
Oh, be washed in the blood of the Lamb!

'Wonderful Life' Matthew West Official Music Video

You have to watch this poignant and powerful music video of Matthew West’s new song called ‘Wonderful Life.’

“Ron from Houston Texas spent 3 years fighting ALS, if you knew all that he’s been through
You’d think he’s anything but blessed, but smiling through a phone call
He said let me tell you friend, this life ain’t always wonderful
But what a wonderful life it’s been, it’ll send you flying high it’ll bring you to your knees
It’s the heartbreak and the happiness and everything between”

The amazing song was inspired by an experience Matthew West had with a fan named Ron Janca who was battling ALS and gave Matthew a new perspective on life. There are even photos of Ron’s life and clips of a video call that he had with Matthew included in the music video.

“My goal with that Zoom call was to sing for Ron and hopefully be an encouragement to him, but Ron had other plans,” shared Matthew West. “He spent the entire call encouraging me!”

He continued: “Little did Ron know that at that time I was battling some serious discouragement and was pretty depressed about the circumstances around me. But here was a guy able to see past his own battle with ALS to show kindness to me. I’ll never forget that. A few weeks later I received a call telling me that Ron passed away. I sat down and wrote this song. These past couple years have brought us tears, heartache, sickness and pain, but Ron taught me about the joy and the peace that you can find in this broken and beautiful, gone mad and magical, awfully wonderful life.”

Many people shared online about how the song has impacted them.

“Life is a mixture of everything good and bad, yet the choice is still left for us to use our experience as a springboard to do better. Thank you, Matthew West, for yet another touching new release. This song has blessed me,” writes one person on YouTube.

“This song touches my heart. It gives us a beautiful yet different and true perspective and understanding of life when we hold onto Jesus each step of the way. The love, the pain, the joy. We know it all. But it’s not the end of our story either. And our first moment in heaven one day will make up and repay for every single hardship we had here on earth. Until Heaven,” another person comments.

We hope that you enjoyed listening to Matthew West’s new song ‘Wonderful Life’ today!

Recently, a cappella group Pentatonix released their own version and it skyrocketed the tune back into popularity. Today, we’re hearing an entirely new rendition, with a nod to classical music, and it’s absolutely stunning.

“Hello darkness, my old friend, I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping, Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains within the sound of silence”

Today, the talented husband and wife duo of The Hound + The Fox are performing this iconic hymn. For years, Reilly and McKenzie Zamber have shared their vocal talent with the world through stunning covers and inspiring original songs such as ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘Mary, Did You Know.’

Celtic Thunder Performs Haunting Cover Of 'Danny Boy'

Make sure you check out this beautiful and haunting performance by Celtic Thunder of the song ‘Danny Boy.’

“Oh, Danny Boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling, from glen to glen, and down the mountain side,
The summer’s gone and all the roses falling, it’s you, it’s you must go
and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer’s in the meadow,
Or when the valley’s hushed and white with snow, it’s I’ll be here in
sunshine or in shadow,
Oh, Danny Boy, oh Danny boy I love you so!”

The singer in this video is Emmet Cahill, and he has such a wonderful voice. It is absolutely heavenly to listen to.

“My all-time favorite version of this song. I always get chills hearing this. Truly beautiful,” one person comments on YouTube after watching the video.

“Truly so beautiful, it really made me cry! A wonderful gift from God!” another person writes online.

When it comes to the history of this beloved song, Frederic Edward Weatherly is to thank for the lyrics to ‘Danny Boy.’ He penned the first two stanzas of the song in 1910, but the lyrics did not find their musical counterpart until a couple of years later. It was Frederic’s Irish sister-in-law who had sent him the folk tune hoping that he would put lyrics to it.

But the origins of the music are somewhat of a mystery. Some say that a Celtic harpist played it as early as the 1600s, while others say it originated in the Scottish Highlands.

However the song originated, it remains true that it has always been hauntingly beautiful! And it will continue to be a favorite to many for years and years to come.

We hope that you enjoyed listening to Celtic Thunder’s wonderful rendition of ‘Danny Boy’ today!
